Since 1936
The house
Built for the pictures. Still showing them.
The Kestrel opened on a wet Friday in 1936 with a Western and a newsreel. The plaster ceiling is original, the seats are new, and our projectionist still threads the 35mm prints by hand. We show the films we would cross town for, and we keep the bar open until the last credit rolls.
